Our Passions

Kava tea comes from the South Pacific and Polynesia and has been used by islanders for over 3,000 years as both a communal and ceremonial beverage. Though in the west; kava is widely renowned for its calming, pain relieving, and revitalizing properties. Kava comes from the root of a piper methysticum plant, which is ground into a powder and strained through a porous pouch to be mixed with water; lending it a bold and earthy flavor. Kava is also inverse tolerant, meaning the more you consume over time; the less you’ll need to consume in the future to feel the effects. Before drinking a shell of kava, you’ll hear our regulars shout ‘BULA!’- a Fijian term expressing thanksgiving and well wishes.

NOTE: It is best to refrain from drinking any alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before and after drinking kava.
